LeasePlan has always been a strong supporter of kids’ charities and causes throughout the country and our approach with "Carn the Kids" activities is a natural illustration of this.
The Carn the Kids story started in 2003 when a chance meeting with Australian Rules great, Bob Skilton – also an active representative of the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne - got us thinking.
Our major sponsorship of the AFL’s Western Bulldogs presented us with a great opportunity to give something back.
We saw how simple and rewarding it would be to partner with key kids’ organisations to provide kids who may have never had the chance, the possibility to experience a fun day out at a football match: the sights, the smells, the sounds - accompanied by the quintessential Aussie meat pie.
The program has since grown with a number of ‘fun days out’ organised with new partners, including the North Melbourne Football Club and the Melbourne Victory Football Club.
In eight years, LeasePlan has hosted over 65 Carn the Kids events across the country, with some 17,000 kids and carers enjoying the fun.
"Carn the Kids" is the headline for all our community activity - encompassing the events program that provides the fun days out, the staff-driven fundraising that delivers thousands to worthy kids’ charities each year, and the local contributions our various branch offices make to kids’ causes in their local areas.
In 2012, LeasePlan is proud to be raising funds for HeartKids.
